Showerheads and conspiracy

So I was going to make an entry about my new showerhead, but I may have instead uncovered a massive cover up.

The brand is AquaSource. The Item/Article # is 014729. I bought it from Lowe's.

Lowe's doesn't even list the brand "AquaSource" on their website, and that item number brings nothing up. A Yahoo seach for "AquaSource 014729" yielded this:

"We did not find results for: AquaSource 014729. Try the suggestions below or type a new query above."

Not ONE single result? On the INTERNETS?!?! There are like two billion webpages per person on the earth, and not ONE of them used "AquaSource" and "014729"??? Not even the company that produces this thing?!

Worrisome.

So then I search just for "AquaSource" and find some hippy ass shit selling algae in a bottle (http://www.aquasource.co.uk/Products/products.html)

So then I search for "Aqua Source" and get "#
Aqua Source Irrigation of Atlanta. RainBird Select Contractor ...
Aqua Source Irrigation has earned a distinguished reputation in the residential ... Aqua Source Irrigation services a broad range of commercial and residential ...
www.aquasourcega.com - 8k - Cached "

Bullshit.

So THEN I try "Aqua Source Faucets" and get nothing helpful at all.

I look on the box for a website, and get only this: www.lgsourcing.com which turns out to be basically a non site, but it does show me that LG is just Lowe's distribution company, and probably also their manufacturer. I'm pretty sure that AquaSource is just Lowe's generic brand, but this is all very confusing.

Does my faucet even exist? I really just wanted to post a picture and an annoyingly wordy description of its capabilities, but that has proven to be an impossible task. More on this breaking development as it occurs.

"“My roommate says, I'm going to take a shower and shave, does anyone need to use the bathroom? It's like some weird quiz where he reveals the answer first.”

Found in literally, ten seconds.

uh, okay, that has nothing to do with my new shower head, thank you.

It's the company that made it, though the showerhead itself isn't on the website, probably because they make literally ten billion different models. So nyah.

sockrocker said...

No, that's a different company, which was the hidden point of my entry: there are like twenty companies called Aqua Source or AquaSource and none of them make this shower head. Show me ONE page on that site that displays shower heads as anything other than clip art.

What's wrong with stock photography, you racist?

Anyway, I did a Google search for "AquaSource +014729", and.. well.. see for yourself what site comes up: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&hs=XGd&q=AquaSource+%2B014729&btnG=Search

At least you'll be of help to other confused faucet enthusiast bloggers.

almost 1 year later, and the revolution continues. From one confused faucet enthusiast to another....I'm not comfortable at all with this, and refuse to mount this unit of unknown origin. After thinking further, I'm pretty sure Barack Obama is behind it all...

If your interested - I bought an AquaSource faucet at Lowes, installed it and it would not turn. When it turned I could hear it scraping inside. Called their Tech Support number and the guy told me I had to take it apart and grease the insides. I think Lowe's basically greased me. Took it back and got my money back. Checked back a couple weeks later and that model was off their shelves and never returned.

It was at least tested for L.G. Sourcing & Aquasource by a company in Canada. It's the seventh Handheld Shower Set listing, counting up from the bottom of the page. Nice to know I'm not the only one who got stumped - we're looking for an Aquasource shower head we saw at Lowes on display, which has a different showerhead in the box with the same model number.

I bought a kitchen faucet with sprayer. 2 weeks time the sprayer quit working... and now the faucet leaks... According to what I have found which is next to nothing... It's a Lowes brand... go figure... Never should have bought it...

The Aquasource faucet that we got from Lowes had the most ridiculously inadequate instructions. Says 10 minutes, took three hours to install (we've done these before). Found no website for help!
Shame on you Lowes!

i just got off the phone with lowes trying to find a number to call for a replacement part to this crappy "aquasource" faucet that i bought from them a few months ago. I gave her a description of the part i need and was told someone from my local lowes store would be calling me back. I then asked if there was a number i could call or a name of the company that makes this crap brand "aquasource". After sitting on hold for a few minutes she came back saying she couldnt find a number but that a company named GLOBEUNION either produces or distributes the faucet. I googled them, found the companies website, which no where that i could see makes any mention of aquasource. The globeunion website also had no phone number to contact them. Stumped, maybe lowes will call me back with better information.

The AquaSource toll-free number is: 1-888-328-2383. My faucet leaked from the moment I installed it, and progressively got worse. Lowe's suggested that I contact AquaSource and ask them to send me 3 new cartridges, or barring that, they would open another box, and take a set out. The woman I talked to, couldn't have been more helpful!! She said she could order the parts, but what she recommended, was taking the faucet back to Lowe's for exchange. (Since I have an access panel, taking the faucet out is not much of a problem.) She said that if I had problems once I got to Lowe's, to call her directly from the store, so that she could speak to a Manager. I work Customer Service myself, and this rep. did everything right. I'm not happy that it leaked from the moment I turned the water on, but that's not her fault, and she really helped clear-up the problem! AquaSource is a low-dollar faucet, and you get what you pay for. I saw the "made in China" before I bought it, but didn't have the $ for the others that were twice the price...

thanks for the 800# Tony. Funny, it just says Customer Service, never does say AquaSource, but person on the other end never heard of the item nuber that is clearly stamped in the faucet handle. Told me to go to Lowe's to find out the model #. I bought it in 2008, so I will call this a learning experience.

If anyone cares...AquaSource is a brand that is sold exclusively by Lowe's. With some research I have found links to Delta. But Delta does not list any help on their web sites for AquaSource. This is a very low end faucet and as others have said, "you get what you pay for..." This is very true when it comes to faucets. So my thought for anyone looking at replacing their faucets or installing a new one, spend the extra on this area of their home and save in another. If you think about it this an item that you use every day and don't want to have trouble with because it is a pain to fix or replace.

Well, we saw this nice vanity with faucet at So. Tucson Lowe's today. The faucet had "American Standard" stamped/etched on it, but the label/price near the faucet said "Aquasource #FW0C5400NP", Lowes' number: "604564" and it was $99.

The exact same-looking faucet, but better made (brass core, ceramic, etc. etc.)by Am St. costs around $220 (see their website # 2064.801).

What goes here??

Tony thanks for the 800 number. I have a single handle faucet that's made by aquasource. The rep was more than accomodating. He took my name, address and phone number. After explaining the faucet head would not switch between spray and stream (both on continuously)he told me to expect a new one in the mail within 4 to 7 business days. Nice guy. They didn't even charge me and this unit is a year and a half old.

Thanks for this blog...I saw Aquasource at Lowes but had never heard of them (red flag). So before buying, I decided to search and see what I can find. Can't find much, but I found this blog, and that is good enough for me. I'll look for something else.

I'm getting ready to install a aquasource item #0088087 single handle pull out sprayer kitchen faucet.
I hope I don't reqret it. The rep on the phone insured me that the nicket finish on it is covered by their lifetime warranty.

Anyone have any problems with this paticular model in the past?

Thanks,

D!

Curious thread to someone who owns an AquaSource vessel-sink faucet. My problem is, how to remove the aerator. Unlike most faucets, vessel or otherwise, this has an internal aerator. There are slots on both sides of it, but it's got to be some specialty tool to remove it, since it sits inside the faucet. Apparently, in six months since installation, enough junk has accumulated in the aerator screen to slow water flow. Any suggestions out there?

Anonymous said...

1. Re "removing the aerator" - we installed a Model FW0B4402BNC faucet (Lowes # is 303203) about two months ago. Step 11 of the installation instructions read "Remove aerator..to remove debris.." and the kit included a dinky little copper-colored spanner that fits in the two slots. I taped that into the User manual so as not to lose it.
2. The faucet itself has worked fine, but today the pop-up drain snapped in two; its top plastic flange may have been cracked during installation - it seems far too weak to allow you to tighten up on the rubber washer below.
3. Aquasource customer service on 866-538-5535 were very helpful, and are even sending the replacement part by air (and free) but I am wondering how to prevent a second breakage.

Wow, I have never seen a company not listing their products or phone numbers on the web. Thank you for the phone numbers, I had to call mutltiply times to finally get through. New Shower head is on it's way. Hopefully it is the right one.

We bought 5 AquaSource bathroom faucets, paid a plumber to install them, and after 2-3 weeks, they still smelled like chemicals - to me, they smelled like bug spray. We didn't think we should be using the water that came out of them for washing, teeth-brushing, and drinking. We bought other faucets, replaced them, and returned them to Lowe's. They accepted them as defective; hadn't heard about the smell. The faucets were made in China. Remember the problem with the dry-wall? Someone at Home Depot said there were new faucets in the past 4 months due to the lead concern. Maybe that is why there is a smell - whatever they did to get rid of the lead. Anyhow, be careful with new faucets.

We also tried to get replacement parts for an Aquasource shower diverter and had absolutely no luck. I think the company is a fictitious name covering for an underworld money laundering crime ring.

Purchased faucet model FW0B4402BNC today. Husband is intalling now. Cashier advised that I register the product for the one yr. warranty. However, I could not find the correct website. Very interesting blogs. I guess I'll use Cust. Serv. # if a problem arises.

'get what you paid for'????...I paid for a G.D. faucet...you know...the kind that sprays water when you turn the handle...not new technology folks..maybe Lowes could label what products will actually work and the ones they dont feel we paid enough for.

The Lowes near my house does not even stock the aquasource name anymore. I did find five products on their website which does say lifetime limited warranty. The toll free number that Tony gave does work, 888-328-2383. This is the second time I have had a warranty claim in three years and both times they replaced it by mail. Just have your model number ready. At least they are showing some integrity even though it seems a little shady in today's information age. Next time I will spend more money for better quality. Thanks to everyone for the posts.

NO WONDER I CANNOT FIND THE "AQUASOURCE PART" I NEED! IT DOESN'T EXIST. EVEN AT LOWE'S, THE CLERK TOLD ME AS I DISCOVERED I HAVE TO BUY THE WHOLE SHOWER KIT (THE ONE WITH THE SLIDEBAR) TO ADJUST THE HEIGHT OF THE SHOWERHEAD-ON-A-HOSE. IT IS $60.00. I'M SURE IF THE INDIVIDUAL PART EXISTED, IT WOULD BE ONLY ABOUT $10.00 OR LESS....WHAT A CROCK! I AM SO GLAD I STUMBLED UPON THIS BLOG SO I CAN REPLACE IT ALL WITH A WELL-RESPECTED BRAND.
